Khoury, Office of Genomics and Precision Public Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, Georgia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:23px\"><strong>Tracking the Scientific Literature on SARS-CoV-2 Variants Using the COVID-19 Genomics and Precision Health Knowledge Base<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:24px\">The first reports of SARS-CoV-2, the highly infectious virus causing COVID-19, swept across the globe in December 2019, prompting a burst of scientific activity. The rate of research and discovery intensified as the pandemic grew, resulting in a flood of publications in journals and on preprint servers around the world. More recently, SARS-CoV-2&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/variants\/variant.html\">variants<\/a>&nbsp;have become a major focus of SARS-CoV-2 research in basic, clinical, and public health sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:24px\">CDC\u2019s Office of Genomics and Precision Public Health established the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/phgkb.cdc.gov\/PHGKB\/coVInfoStartPage.action\">COVID-19 Genomics and Precision Health (COVID-19 GPH)<\/a>&nbsp;database to capture publications that reflect the influence of two broad emerging technologies: genomics (pathogen and human), and precision health (machine learning, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics). Together, these fields are the leading edge of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/32805001\/\">precision public health<\/a>&nbsp;in COVID-19 and beyond. Data are continuously updated from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/\">PubMed<\/a>, the NIH&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/icite.od.nih.gov\/covid19\/search\/\">iSearch COVID-19 Portfolio,<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/33166392\/\">LitCovid,<\/a>&nbsp;and media sources using an automatic retrieval and text mining strategy<sup>3<\/sup>&nbsp;and manual curation by CDC staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\">For More Information: <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.cdc.gov\/genomics\/tag\/covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/blogs.cdc.gov\/genomics\/tag\/covid-19\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Authors: CDC Blogs Merline Feero, Marta Gwinn, and Muin J.
