{"id":12991,"date":"2025-08-01T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cov19longhaulfoundation.org\/?p=12991"},"modified":"2025-07-28T19:52:13","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T23:52:13","slug":"cdc-releases-update-on-long-covid-symptoms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cov19longhaulfoundation.org\/?p=12991","title":{"rendered":"CDC Releases Update On &#8216;Long COVID&#8217; Symptoms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/health\/cdc-releases-update-on-long-covid-symptoms-5893009?utm_source=partner&amp;utm_campaign=ZeroHedge\"><em>Authored by Jack Phillips via The Epoch Times,<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an update on July 24 urging health care providers and public health officials to raise awareness of the symptoms of \u201clong COVID,\u201d a condition the CDC states can last weeks, months, or even years after an infection with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%20-%202025-07-28T094458.241.jpg?itok=2ZfgbYkz\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/long-covid\/php\/scientific-approach\/index.html\">update<\/a>,&nbsp;<strong>the agency said that public health professionals should continue to \u201cpromote awareness of Long COVID, help combat the stigma that patients with Long COVID encounter, and emphasize prevention of Long COVID,\u201d while encouraging people to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In another July 24&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/long-covid\/signs-symptoms\/index.html\">update<\/a>, the federal health agency said that \u201csymptoms that can range from mild to severe and may be similar to symptoms from other illnesses\u201d that can \u201clast weeks, months, or years after COVID-19 illness and can emerge, persist, resolve, and reemerge over different lengths of time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the update, symptoms include fatigue that interferes with daily life, symptoms that worsen after physical or mental effort, fever, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chest pain, coughing, and a fast-beating or pounding heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some symptoms could be neurological,<\/strong>&nbsp;the CDC said. That includes&nbsp;<strong>\u201cbrain fog,\u201d or difficulty in thinking and concentrating<\/strong>; sleeping problems; dizziness when standing up; depression or anxiety; a change in smell; or a pins-and-needles feeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other symptoms can include digestive problems such as diarrhea, constipation, and stomach pain, the agency adds. Joint or muscle pain, rash, and changes in the menstrual cycle are also reported symptoms of long COVID, according to the CDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>\u201cMore than 200 Long COVID symptoms have been identified. However, fatigue, brain fog, and exhaustion (post-exertional malaise) are among the commonly reported symptoms of Long COVID,\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em>the CDC&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/long-covid\/php\/scientific-approach\/index.html\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COVID-19 activity was classified as low nationwide, the agency&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/respiratory-viruses\/data\/index.html\">said<\/a>&nbsp;on July 25. Respiratory illness activity, including RSV and influenza, was also described as \u201cvery low.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CDC wastewater activity indicates that COVID-19 is increasing in Southeast, Southern, and West Coast states as of the most recent update.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A map of wastewater levels released by the CDC last week&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nwss\/rv\/COVID19-national-data.html\">showed<\/a>&nbsp;that levels are \u201cvery high\u201d in one state, Louisiana, and \u201chigh\u201d in Florida and Hawaii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No other states were experiencing high or very high levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CDC, until recently, had recommended that all individuals aged 6 months or older receive a COVID-19 vaccine annually, regardless of prior vaccination or infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After orders from Health Secretary Robert F.
