{"id":13303,"date":"2025-09-01T16:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cov19longhaulfoundation.org\/?p=13303"},"modified":"2025-09-01T13:55:53","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T17:55:53","slug":"pharmacies-scale-back-covid-vaccines-as-fda-ends-emergency-use","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cov19longhaulfoundation.org\/?p=13303","title":{"rendered":"Pharmacies Scale Back COVID Vaccines as FDA Ends Emergency Use"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">By\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifezette.com\/author\/lifezettenewsstaff\/\">LifeZette News Staff<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CVS and Walgreens are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/retail\/cvs-walgreens-pull-back-covid-vaccines-more-than-dozen-states-following-new-guidelines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reducing<\/a>&nbsp;access to updated COVID-19 vaccines in multiple states after federal regulators narrowed eligibility to seniors and high-risk groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CVS confirmed it has halted distribution in three states\u2014Massachusetts, Nevada, and New Mexico\u2014and imposed restrictions in 13 others, along with the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBased on the current regulatory environment, CVS has completely stopped offering the shots in three states \u2013 Massachusetts, Nevada and New Mexico \u2013 and has limited access in 13 others as well as the District of Columbia,\u201d CVS Health spokesperson Tara Burke said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The states where CVS has limited vaccine access include Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burke added, \u201cWe\u2019ll administer FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccines in states where legally permitted at CVS Pharmacy and\/or MinuteClinic to meet our patients\u2019 needs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walgreens issued a similar statement, noting it is \u201cprepared to offer the vaccine in states where we are able to do so,\u201d according to a report from CBS News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In areas with restrictions, high-risk individuals may still receive updated boosters if they obtain prescriptions from authorized providers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0LifeZette News Staff CVS and Walgreens are&nbsp;reducing&nbsp;access to updated COVID-19 vaccines in multiple states after federal regulators narrowed eligibility to seniors and high-risk groups.
