Kennedy Jr., has upended the federal government&#8217;s process for recommending immunizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Food and Drug Administration last month&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/healthcare-pharmaceuticals\/us-fda-narrows-under-65-covid-vaccine-eligibility-maintains-full-access-older-2025-08-27\/\">narrowed<\/a>&nbsp;its approval of COVID-19 vaccines to adults over the age of 65 and younger people with health risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kennedy, who has long promoted doubts about the safety and efficacy of a range of vaccines contrary to scientific evidence, also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/healthcare-pharmaceuticals\/us-cdc-chief-fired-after-weeks-role-challenges-ouster-four-top-officials-resign-2025-08-28\/\">fired Centers for Disease Control and Prevention head<\/a>&nbsp;Susan Monarez last month. All 17&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/healthcare-pharmaceuticals\/all-members-vaccine-advisory-panel-will-be-retired-us-health-secretary-kennedy-2025-06-09\/\">expert members<\/a>&nbsp;of the CDC&#8217;s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices were fired by Kennedy in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/healthcare-pharmaceuticals\/kennedy-picks-seven-new-members-us-cdc-vaccine-panel-document-shows-2025-09-04\/\">revamped committee<\/a>&nbsp;is scheduled to meet on September 18, and could vote on new recommendations for shots for hepatitis B, measles-mumps-rubella-varicella and respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, according to the Federal Register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many Americans, particularly Democrats, worry the Trump administration could pull back federal support for vaccines more broadly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asked if they were worried that in the future children wouldn&#8217;t get the vaccines they need, 48% of respondents said they were concerned, compared to 38% who said they were not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four out of five Democrats said they worried about future vaccine access for children, as did one in five Republicans and about half of independents.
