{"id":1534,"date":"2021-08-07T20:17:34","date_gmt":"2021-08-07T20:17:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.cov19longhaulfoundation.org\/?p=1534"},"modified":"2021-08-07T20:17:34","modified_gmt":"2021-08-07T20:17:34","slug":"polls-show-20-of-americans-have-ended-friendships-over-covid-spats-and-29-have-lost-someone-to-covid-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cov19longhaulfoundation.org\/?p=1534","title":{"rendered":"Polls Show 20% of Americans Have Ended Friendships Over Covid Spats \u2014 And 29% Have Lost Someone to Covid Death"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">New polls show that significant numbers of Americans have ended friendships over disagreements about COVID-19 \u2014 and an even greater number have lost a friend or family member who died from the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">In one&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/today.yougov.com\/topics\/health\/survey-results\/daily\/2021\/08\/05\/1e336\/3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">survey<\/a>&nbsp;released Thursday, YouGov asked respondents \u201cHave you lost any friendships because of differences in opinion related to the COVID-19 pandemic?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Overall, 20 percent responded \u201cyes,\u201d 68 percent responded \u201cno,\u201d and another 11 percent replied \u201cDon\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Democrats were significantly more likely than Republicans to have lost a friend due to disagreements about Covid, with 24 percent responding \u201cyes\u201d versus 15 percent of GOP voters who said the same.
