{"id":3001,"date":"2021-09-11T17:39:07","date_gmt":"2021-09-11T17:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.cov19longhaulfoundation.org\/?p=3001"},"modified":"2021-09-11T17:39:07","modified_gmt":"2021-09-11T17:39:07","slug":"fauci-doesnt-have-an-answer-to-why-those-who-recovered-from-covid-are-required-to-take-vaccine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cov19longhaulfoundation.org\/?p=3001","title":{"rendered":"Fauci Doesn\u2019t Have An Answer To Why Those Who Recovered From Covid Are Required To Take Vaccine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Authors: <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/author\/jordanlancaster70@gmail.com\">JORDAN LANCASTER<\/a>      REPORTER                September 10, 20214:03 PM E<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Dr. Anthony Fauci said Thursday night on CNN that he didn\u2019t have a \u201cfirm answer\u201d as to why those who have been previously infected with Covid and have natural immunity are being required to take the vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Dr.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/13\/meghan-mccain-challenges-dr-sanjay-gupta-moving-covid-19-goalposts\/\">Sanjay Gupta<\/a>, CNN\u2019s Chief Medical Correspondent, pointed out a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/content\/article\/having-sars-cov-2-once-confers-much-greater-immunity-vaccine-vaccination-remains-vital\">recent study<\/a>&nbsp;from Israel that found people with natural immunity from Covid due to a previous infection were much less likely to become infected, be hospitalized, or die from Covid than their counterparts who had never been infected but had received both doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The scientists&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/08\/28\/natural-immunity-covid-19-coronavirus-vaccine-israeli-study\/\">also found<\/a>&nbsp;that previously infected people were more protected if they had one dose of the Pfizer vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Gupta asked if previously infected people should also get the vaccine, and if so, how Fauci plans to make the case for those people to get it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">\u201cYou know, that\u2019s a really good point, Sanjay. I don\u2019t have a really firm answer for you on that,\u201d Fauci said. \u201cThat\u2019s something that we\u2019re going to have to discuss regarding the durability of the response.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">Fauci also said that the study didn\u2019t discuss how long the immunity lasts.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/05\/26\/natural-immunity-covid-19-coronavirus-vaccine\/\">(RELATED: Natural Immunity To COVID-19 May Last More Than A Year After Infection, New Studies Show)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\">\u201cThe one thing the paper from Israel didn\u2019t tell you is whether or not as high as the protection is with natural infection \u2013 what\u2019s the durability compared to the durability of a vaccine?
