They have been suggested as a potential treatment for COVID-19 because of their\u00a0<em>in vitro<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>in vivo<\/em>\u00a0antiviral properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recommendation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" style=\"font-size:24px\"><li>The COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel\u00a0<strong>recommends against<\/strong>\u00a0the use of\u00a0<strong>interferons<\/strong>\u00a0for the treatment of patients with severe or critical COVID-19, except in a clinical trial\u00a0<strong>(AIII)<\/strong>.
